Traditional media and now electronically connected social media are the real operant conditioning chamber that most of us simply do not see.

Protective walls become endless governmental maze.

Somehow we only end up waiting on more lines and having to pay more fees to do things like take plane rides and still the News reports the world is about to end. Before 9/11 we could travel from the U.S.A. to Canada or Mexico sans passport, with but a license. Now we have extra hoops to jump through that do nothing to keep us safe in the first place. These rules and laws exist as operant conditioning tools of social management and nothing more. All borders are fake and the tools of Nation States. National identity is another divisive lie. Nobody really has the right to impose immigration policies.  Immigration law is a clear indication that we do not live in lands of the free and homes of the brave as advertised. Things like immigration are tools used to manage civilization. The few have long managed to manipulate the many into undertaking all sorts of pilgrimages as history clearly shows. Religion and government are two heads of the same Biblical Beast we have long been warned about with clever metaphorical, artistic revelation. We've been warned with everything from children's fairytales to Biblical passages. These ideas are clichés and yet most of us ignore the obvious wisdom of such thinking in favor of following one kind of pied piper leader or another. If we fall out of the mainstream kind of behavior, most seem to end up following alternative leaders and gurus instead. People leave one divided and conquered cult to only join another. People seem to really like having others do their thinking for them. Not only are people not seemingly interested in reading non fiction works, they are also seemingly not interested in thinking for themselves in the first place, preferring to defer such activity to those they deem more qualified for such things.

Common sense safety measures are one thing, governmentally designed operant conditioning simulated threats are another.

Most of us might not want to see that we are all trapped as it were, like rats in the proverbial maze, forever frightened that an imagined three eyed siamese cat is out to get us. Terrorism is a tactic used by governments against the non combatant public and this is all it ever really was. All other tales of terrorism ring a lot less true when one considers that government clearly benefits from such claimed activity, and all we need are claims we cannot examine to get the public in an emotional state where they are easily misled with false solutions that will only cost us more in taxes and will only continue to expand governmental growth into even more needlessly restrictive and costly forms. The News media makes liberal use of "shock and awe" style propaganda to keep the public in a constant state of traumatic terror which feeds into a belief in the need for what turns to to be nothing but imagined governmental protection. We have to believe we need to keep funding all the layers of government we do not really need. We have to have faith we need to keep paying taxes for protection from what turns out to be nothing but governmentally concocted fantastic phantom menaces.

So many variations of the same tired childish theme. The old game of spreading gossip and hearsay goes back a long way. The earliest days of international banking are filled with tall tales of heroic Naval martyrs whose images would be used to fund all sorts of future ventures. This is one of the ways the few manage to get the many to keep turning the wheels of endless industry for all time.

"F for Fake (French: Vérités et mensonges, "Truths and lies") is considered the last major film completed by Orson Welles..."

"The film opens with Welles performing magic tricks for some children while Kodar watches nearby. Welles quotes Robert-Houdin to the effect that a magician is just an actor. Welles promises that for the next hour everything in the film will be based on solid fact. Kodar is then shown strolling around a street in a miniskirt while being ogled by the men on the street. Welles reveals the footage is taken from another experiment about girl-watching, where Kodar deliberately drew attention to herself and the men were unaware they were being filmed. Welles says her story will continue later in the film, and then narrates the story of Elmyr de Hory, an art forger who sold many fake paintings to museums and collectors all over the world. Elmyr is shown throwing a dinner party at his home in Ibiza and being feted by European society, although he dances around the question of whether he is guilty or not. History is a Weapon: Crowd Psychology 101

History is made of many lies. The last century of history, for example, with two supposed "World Wars" and a "Cold War" that continues to this day, is derived from Newsreel mythology and other forms of propaganda and fake News. "Fake News" is nothing new; it is as old as civilization itself. "Fake News" of post-modern times evolves from word of mouth gossip spread by international banking backed Church choir song. Historical Apologetics Keeps The Lies Alive

Fake News evolves into history. Nature does not make mistakes, humans do. We call these mistakes "paradoxes'. Contradictions are man-made. Historical accounts and News accounts are filled with many fallacies. Truth matters a lot less than propaganda. Myth matters more than factual accuracy. European based history once relied only on mass produced print based media to be spread among the literate public. Today television and computer screen is the medium of choice for most.

The Lies of History Considered

Why do you think Herodotus is referred to as the "Father of Lies"? Could there be an allegorical meaning to this? What do we really know about the character called "Herodotus, the Father of History and Lies"? Idols and icons and blessed saints, whether of religious or more secular origins are the tools used to build civilization. The medium used to be the mass produced printed word, and of course, gossip spread by telephone game, hearsay, parroting. These older forms of propaganda based media still obviously exist today. Word of mouth hearsay is also still tends to be taken to be gospel. Gossip columnists have long thrived thanks to the seeming endless market for gossip based, rumor fueled, tabloid fare. Obviously cartoonish and scripted stories are sold as "real events" to a largely unsuspecting world-wide digitally connected audience who has been indoctrinated since birth to believe in what they see on screens if they are told by authoritative voice over it is real. Most people have not yet realized that the News and subsequent resulting, textbook history is mostly made of lies. Most do not seem to grasp that this is the way the civilization "sausage" is made.

I agree with JLB, history is not what many of us believe it is. History is more advertising "sizzle" and marketing myth, than actual fact. What matters more is ego based, identity crafting by means of cultural mythology. Factual accuracy is not very important.

"Various species of mythical headless men were rumored, in antiquity and later, to inhabit remote parts of the world. They are variously known as akephaloi (Greek ἀκέφαλοι, "headless ones") or Blemmyes (Latin: Blemmyae; Greek: βλέμμυες) and described as lacking a head, with their facial features on their chest. These were at first described as inhabitants of the Nile system (Aethiopia). Later traditions confined their habitat to a particular island in the Brisone River, or shifted it to India. Blemmyes are said to occur in two types: with eyes on the chest or with the eyes on the shoulders. Epiphagi, a variant name for the headless people of the Brisone, is sometimes used as a term referring strictly to the eyes-on-the-shoulders type."

"The Travels of Sir John Mandeville writes of "ugly folk without heads, who have eyes in each shoulder" with their mouths "round like a horseshoe, in the middle of their chest" living among the populace in the big island of Dundeya (Andaman Islands) between India and Myanmar. This historical work comprises one of the most important sources for the students of the final 150 years of Byzantine history, despite being defective in its chronology. It covers the period from 1298–1463, describing the fall of the Byzantine empire and the rise of the Ottoman Turks, which forms the centre of the narrative, down to the conquest of the Venetians and Mathias, king of Hungary, by Mehmed II. The capture of Constantinople he rightly regarded as an historical event of far-reaching importance and compared it to the fall of Troy. The work also sketches other manners and civilization of EnglandFrance and Germany, whose assistance the Greeks sought to obtain against the Turks. For his account of earlier events he was able to obtain information from his father."

"Chalkokondyles' History was first published in a Latin translation by Conrad Clauser at Basel in 1556,[1] although the translation itself bears the date of November 1544. A French translation was published by Blaise de Vigenère in 1577 with a later edition by Artus Thomas, with valuable illustrations on Turkish matters. The editio princeps of the Greek text had to wait until 1615 for J. B. Baumbach's printing. The two best editions are: Historiarum Libri Decem, ed. I. "Until 1550, coinage techniques used in European mints had not progressed from the hammered coinage of Ancient Greece. This was problematic because an increase in the supply of bullion from central Europe and America was overworking mints. That led to low quality coins which were easily forged or clipped, i.e. precious metal was shaved from the edges of the coins. In accordance with Gresham's law, the clipped and forged coins drove good coins out of circulation, depreciating the currency. Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks showed there was a better way[2] and Donato Bramante, the architect who made the initial plans for St. Peter's Basilica, developed a screw press to make the lead bulla attached to Papal documents. In England, a 1560 proclamation of Elizabeth I exchanged old debased coins for new pure coins. The Tower Mint added machinery to its hammering for this “great recoinage”. Eloy Mestrelle did the technology transfer from France but when the great recoinage ended mint authorities found him redundant and in 1578 he was hanged for counterfeiting. In 1632, Charles I employed another French refugee, Nicholas Briot, to improve coinage standards in both England and Scotland, which had its own coinage until 1707, but the English Civil War ended his machine coinage. Yet another Frenchman, Peter Blondeau, provided machinery for a proposed coinage designed by Thomas Simon with Oliver Cromwell’s portrait. The restoration of 1660 ended that, but in 1662 Charles II recalled Blondeau to establish a permanent machine made coinage. He employed a secret process for placing lettering or other designs on the edges of coins.[7] The inscription chosen for the edge—DECVS ET TVTAMEN, meaning an ornament and a safeguard—refers to the protection against clipping which the lettered edge provided.[8] In accordance with Gresham’s law, however, the inferior hammered coins limited the circulation of his coins until the hammered coins were demonetized in 1695.In 1550, the French ambassador to Augsburg, Charles de Marillac, saw a way for France to get an economic advantage over the Holy Roman Empire when he learned that a local engineer had perfected a mechanical process of rolling bullion to the required thickness, cutting blanks from the rolled metal, and striking coins from those blanks. This technology was significantly more advanced than the general manufacturing processes of the sixteenth century  making the coins difficult to counterfeit. The negotiations which obtained rights to the process for France were so secret that the inventor was identified with a codename, but he was most likely Marx Schwab. Aubin Olivier went to Augsburg to learn the technique and Henry II of France made him chief engineer of a mechanized mint in Paris, called the Moulin des Étuves, on 27 March 1551. This mint produced well-struck and perfectly round gold and silver coins. Having perfectly round coins made it easy to detect clipping, but the coiners establishment would have none of this and within a decade the Moulin des Étuves’ ex-employees were finding work in Navarre and England."

"The Industrial Revolution shifted the focus of the economy from a rural to an urban, money based, enterprise. The main technology of the Industrial Revolution, the Watt steam engine, also increased the overall level of economic activity. Both of these factors increased the demand for money. Factories were financed by introducing paper money and credit, but low denomination coins were required to pay their workers and in England copper coins were scarce. Matthew Boulton had backed Watt’s development of the Steam Engine and he used it to power coin making machinery at his Soho Manufactory. Boulton struck coins for the East India Company, supplied steam powered coining machinery to the Moscow mint, and manufactured private tokens which circulated widely in England. In 1797, Boulton received a contract to strike royal British copper coins called cartwheels. In 1805, he received a further contract to supply steam powered coinage machinery when the British Royal Mint left the Tower of London and established a new facility on Little Tower Hill."

An Industrial Revolution In Reading 

"During the 1800’s, a major technical revolution occurred in the area of communication—the invention of a non-manual printing press by Friedrich Koening and Andreas F Bauer. Although the manual printing press had been in operation for quite a while, their press was the first to use steam to provide the power. In 1436, John Gutenberg had patented the first the manual printing press. Prior to Gutenberg’s invention, books in Europe were still copied out by hand from a scribe, and the accuracy of the text (whether one edition matched the next) was dependent upon the skill of the man doing the writing. Having a machine that could produce copies of texts that matched word-for-word was a dramatic leap forward."

"Nothing of this kind had ever been invented before and rumors circulated. Mr. J. Walter, proprietor of The London Times, ordered two of the printing presses for his newspapers at a cost of £1400 each. Nearly two years passed before the presses were completed and during that time the work had to proceed in secret. The pressmen who worked for the Times (and would subsequently be out of a job once the new system was put in place) threatened to destroy Koening, Bauer, and their machines. Walter had to promise to find the pressmen other jobs in order to prevent violence (Elligett, 2009)

On November 29th, 1814, the first newspaper printed on a steam-powered cylindrical machine was produced. The following note appeared in a Times article on that day:

Our Journal of this day presents to the Public the practical result of the greatest improvement connected with printing since the discovery of the art itself. The reader of this paragraph now holds in his hand one of the many thousand impressions of The Times newspaper which were taken off last night by a mechanical apparatus. A system of machinery almost organic has been devised and arranged, which, while it relieves the human frame of its most laborious’ efforts in printing, far exceeds all human powers in rapidity and dispatch. That the magnitude of the invention may be justly appreciated by its effects, we shall inform the public, that after the letters are placed by the compositors, and enclosed in what is called the forme, little more remains for man to do than to attend upon and to watch this unconscious agent in its operations. The machine is then merely supplied with paper: itself places the forme, inks it, adjusts the paper to the forme newly inked, stamps the sheet, and gives it forth to the hands of the attendant, at the same time withdrawing the form for a fresh coat of ink, which itself again distributes, to meet the ensuing sheet now advancing for impression; and the whole of these complicated acts is performed with such a velocity and simultaneousness of movement, that no less than 1100 sheets are impressed in one hour.

Finally books and newspapers could be produced on a mass scale. As Richard D. Altick (1973) notes in Victorian People and Ideas, this made the written word available to all aspects of society. Although education was “sketchy” at best for the lower classes, the literacy rate still rose from 67% (male) and 51% (female) in 1814 to approximately 97% for both sexes in 1900. The literacy rate would not have changed much for the upper class, so the increase in literate people came from the middle and lower classes."

"During this time, the lower class also saw an improvement in working conditions—working fewer hours and receiving a bit more pay over what was required for necessities. Public libraries were built and included “reading rooms” where patrons could find a quiet haven to enjoy works of literature (Altick, 1973). Publishing practices changed at this time. Rather than finding an upper class patron to sponsor a work, authors could afford to publish a run of works on their own to sell to the general public thanks to the efficiency of the steam-powered press. They could also publish by subscription—where the public agreed in advance to purchase a work based on an author’s prior works. Who really knows how much of what we think of as history is based on actual event and how much is based on fantasy? We can't really be sure about much of anything regarding more ancient and even more recent history. The News is made of many many lies. It should come as no surprise that all of history is made of many of the same exact kind of, National identity building, types of lies. Myth matters more than accuracy. History is a weapon and tool used to craft state based, ego centered identities for the human resource to self identify with. What we do know about our collective artificial world is that it is an international European banking based construct.

Truth Transcends History

Truth transcends even lies. "Ancient Times" may or may not reflect reality. The truth is that it doesn't really matter. The real truth of human reality transcends even the truth of the stories we use to give meaning to our ego identity based existences. The literal human, the human who has been trained to read and write, and to otherwise consume mass media culture is a different type of being from one who knows only a more aboriginal and more tribe like existence that does not rely on urbanization and industrialization.

The Ramification of Emotions

Most people tend read only headlines and fail to notice retractions and corrections. People seem to remember only the kinds of emotionally charged ideas they need to.

Social Media is the latest medium of government. Government relies on social shepherds and soap operatic, overly dramatic "personal" narratives to define the bounds of human reason and to drive humanity into new behavioral forms. Contrived FEMA drills get reported as real News as the recent Las Vegas mass shooting event shows. What most take to be real historical fact is actually little more than scripted mythic heroic fiction. Dramatic tales of mythic heroes and victims are the means by which the mass of humanity is shepherded into brand new patterns of behavior that the governments of the world desire. This is the way we have always been manipulated into action. This is how civilization is built. These National State News heroes and martyrs are necessary artifacts of culture, or more specifically the religion known as Government. We are not supposed to notice all the obvious crisis acting fakery and that the evidence presented to us by governmental report and the News (and even alternative sources) indicates that the entire event was nothing but a drill with no real deaths to actually report. Yet without such dramatic tales, of heroes, victims and martyrs, we could have no National or even more local News led rituals of public morning over fallen "friends" we never knew.

A Real Call To Action Motivated By Fake Events

I, Robot... You, Jane

""I, Robot...You, Jane" is the eighth episode of season 1 of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The episode was written by staff writers Ashley Gable and Thomas A. Swyden, and directed by Stephen Posey. The episode originally aired on April 28, 1997. In this episode, Willow accidentally releases the demon Moloch onto the internet. There he wreaks havoc and gains a following." "In Cortona, Italy, in 1418, a circle of priests trap a horned demon (Moloch "the Corruptor") in a book using a magic ritual. The book is sealed in a box, with the head priest expressing the hope that the book will never be read, lest the demon be released upon the world. In the present, the book is delivered to Giles and added to a pile that Willow is scanning into a computer. Willow tells Buffy that she has formed an online relationship with a boy named Malcolm. As Buffy tries to warn Willow about the dangers of rushing into a relationship with someone she has not seen, Fritz (a computer geek) is instructed by Moloch, via the computer he is working on, to keep watch on Buffy. Later, when Xander asks Willow if she will accompany him to the Bronze, she passes, preferring to talk to Malcolm. When Willow arrives late the next day, Buffy finds that she missed classes to talk to "Malcolm". Buffy asks Dave for help in finding out Malcolm's real identity, but his angry response causes her to suspect that he is Malcolm. When Buffy asks Giles for help, he confesses he cannot help her much as he finds technology to be intimidating.

Willow becomes suspicious of Malcolm after she learns that he knows Buffy was kicked out of her old school, and logs off the conversation. Back at the library, Giles discovers that Moloch's book is blank. Outside of school, Dave tells Buffy that Willow wants to talk to her in the girls' locker room. At the last minute, Dave has a change of heart and warns Buffy that she is about to be electrocuted. In the library, Giles tells Buffy and Xander that demons can be imprisoned in books; if the books are read aloud, the demons are set free. Giles also explains that Moloch is an extremely powerful and seductive demon, winning his victims over with false promises of love, glory and power. Buffy and Giles realise that there is no limit to the destruction that a demon could do through the Internet. After they find Dave's body, Xander and Buffy go to Willow's house, and Buffy tells Giles to ask the computer teacher (Ms. Calendar) for help, hoping that between his knowledge of demons and her knowledge of computers, they can reimprison Moloch. Willow is kidnapped by Fritz. Giles seeks help from Ms. Calendar, and is surprised that she is already aware of the demon in the Internet. A robotic incarnation of Moloch crashes through a wall and attacks Buffy, Willow and Xander. After a brief battle, Buffy tricks Moloch into punching an electrical power line, causing his body to explode and, presumably, destroying him for good."

"The Gutenberg Galaxy: The Making of Typographic Man is a 1962 book by Marshall McLuhan, in which the author analyzes the effects of mass media, especially the printing press, on European culture and human consciousness. It popularized the term global village,[1] which refers to the idea that mass communicationallows a village-like mindset to apply to the entire world; and Gutenberg Galaxy, which we may regard today to refer to the accumulated body of recorded works of human art and knowledge, especially books. McLuhan studies the emergence of what he calls Gutenberg Man, the subject produced by the change of consciousness wrought by the advent of the printed book. Oral tribe culture

"The oral tradition is not dead. Movable type

"His episodic and often rambling history takes the reader from pre-alphabetic tribal humankind to the electronic age. According to McLuhan, the invention of movable type greatly accelerated, intensified, and ultimately enabled cultural and cognitive changes that had already been taking place since the invention and implementation of the alphabet, by which McLuhan means phonemic orthography. (McLuhan is careful to distinguish the phonetic alphabet from logographic/logogramic writing systems, like hieroglyphics or ideograms.) Print culture, ushered in by the Gutenberg press in the middle of the fifteenth century, brought about the cultural predominance of the visual over the aural/oral. Quoting with approval an observation on the nature of the printed word from Prints and Visual Communication by William Ivins, McLuhan remarks:

In this passage [Ivins] not only notes the ingraining of lineal, sequential habits, but, even more important, points out the visual homogenizing of experience of print culture, and the relegation of auditory and other sensuous complexity to the background. [...] The technology and social effects of typography incline us to abstain from noting interplay and, as it were, "formal" causality, both in our inner and external lives. Print exists by virtue of the static separation of functions and fosters a mentality that gradually resists any but a separative and compartmentalizing or specialist outlook. 

The main concept of McLuhan's argument (later elaborated upon in The Medium is the Massage) is that new technologies (like alphabets, printing presses, and even speech itself) exert a gravitational effect on cognition, which in turn affects social organization: print technology changes our perceptual habits ("visual homogenizing of experience"), which in turn affects social interactions ("fosters a mentality that gradually resists all but a... specialist outlook"). According to McLuhan, the advent of print technology contributed to and made possible most of the salient trends in the Modern period in the Western world: individualism, democracy, Protestantism, capitalism and nationalism. For McLuhan, these trends all reverberate with print technology's principle of "segmentation of actions and functions and principle of visual quantification." 

Electronic age : The global village

"In the early 1960s, McLuhan wrote that the visual, individualistic print culture would soon be brought to an end by what he called "electronic interdependence": when electronic media would replace visual culture with aural/oral culture. In this new age, humankind will move from individualism and fragmentation to a collective identity, with a "tribal base." McLuhan's coinage for this new social organization is the global village. The term is sometimes described as having negative connotations in The Gutenberg Galaxy, but McLuhan himself was interested in exploring effects, not making value judgments:

Instead of tending towards a vast Alexandrian library the world has become a computer, an electronic brain, exactly as an infantile piece of science fiction. And as our senses have gone outside us, Big Brother goes inside. So, unless aware of this dynamic, we shall at once move into a phase of panic terrors, exactly befitting a small world of tribal drums, total interdependence, and superimposed co-existence. [...] Terror is the normal state of any oral society, for in it everything affects everything all the time. [...] In our long striving to recover for the Western world a unity of sensibility and of thought and feeling we have no more been prepared to accept the tribal consequences of such unity than we were ready for the fragmentation of the human psyche by print culture. Key to McLuhan's argument is the idea that technology has no per se moral bent—it is a tool that profoundly shapes an individual's and, by extension, a society's self-conception and realization:

Is it not obvious that there are always enough moral problems without also taking a moral stand on technological grounds? [...] Print is the extreme phase of alphabet culture that detribalizes or decollectivizes man in the first instance. Print raises the visual features of alphabet to highest intensity of definition. Thus print carries the individuating power of the phonetic alphabet much further than manuscript culture could ever do. Print is the technology of individualism. If men decided to modify this visual technology by an electric technology, individualism would also be modified. To raise a moral complaint about this is like cussing a buzz-saw for lopping off fingers. "But", someone says, "we didn't know it would happen." Yet even witlessness is not a moral issue. It is a problem, but not a moral problem; and it would be nice to clear away some of the moral fogs that surround our technologies. It would be good for morality. The moral valence of technology's effects on cognition is, for McLuhan, a matter of perspective. For instance, McLuhan contrasts the considerable alarm and revulsion that the growing quantity of books aroused in the latter seventeenth century with the modern concern for the "end of the book." If there can be no universal moral sentence passed on technology, McLuhan believes that "there can only be disaster arising from unawareness of the causalities and effects inherent in our technologies."

McLuhan frequently quoted Walter Ong's Ramus, Method, and the Decay of Dialogue (1958), which evidently had prompted McLuhan to write The Gutenberg Galaxy. Ong wrote a highly favorable review of this new book in America. However, Ong later tempered his praise, by describing McLuhan's The Gutenberg Galaxy as "a racy survey, indifferent to some scholarly detail, but uniquely valuable in suggesting the sweep and depth of the cultural and psychological changes entailed in the passage from illiteracy to print and beyond."[29] McLuhan himself said of the book, "I'm not concerned to get any kudos out of [The Gutenberg Galaxy]. It seems to me a book that somebody should have written a century ago. I wish somebody else had written it. It will be a useful prelude to the rewrite of Understanding Media [the 1960 NAEB report] that I'm doing now." McLuhan's The Gutenberg Galaxy won Canada's highest literary award, the Governor-General's Award for Non-Fiction, in 1962. Mencken involving the publication of a fictitious history of the bathtub. On December 28, 1917, an article titled "A Neglected Anniversary" by H. L. Mencken was published in the New York Evening Mail. It claimed that the bathtub had been introduced into the United States as recently as 1842, the first ones having been made of mahogany lined with lead. The article went on to describe how the introduction of the bathtub was initially greatly discussed and opposed until President Millard Fillmore had a bathtub installed in the White House in 1850, making the invention more broadly acceptable. The article was entirely false but was still being widely quoted as fact for years, even as recently as January 2008 when a Kia TV ad referenced the story with no mention of its fictional nature. In 1949 Mencken wrote: The success of this idle hoax, done in time of war, when more serious writing was impossible, vastly astonished me. Not ony did he come across well on the small screen (most famously in his debate with sweaty Richard Nixon), but his brisk, witty, detached style was perfect for a medium that Marshall McLuhan famously termed “cool.” Even his assassination became a grand, tragic pop spectacular, forever changing TV news, making stars of reporters like Dan Rather, uniting an entire country who all watched the same thing on television—and henceforth expected to see the news happen before its eyes. From the beginning, most of the American public has refused to believe the official story that the assassination was the work of one man, Lee Harvey Oswald. There simply had to be more to the enormity than that—some dark conspiracy coming to a head in that grassy knoll. Such paranoiac thoughts were, of course, hardly new to the American psyche (which had recently endured McCarthyism). Indeed, in 1962 Hollywood had released The Manchurian Candidate, the greatest of all conspiracy thrillers; a few months after that, Thomas Pynchon had published his brilliant debut novel, V., which was about the paranoid desire to find secret patterns hidden beneath surface events. Still, the Kennedy assassination marked a transformative moment in our culture. It pushed conspiracy theory from the margins into the mainstream and it’s been there ever since."

Odd that the police and prison officials would allow a 1960's era photographer to bring all his equipment into the prison and into what would seem to be a tiny prison cell. Why would the police and prison officials help promote MLK's image? MLK is just like JFK and RFK. These are secular saints who gave their lives for their beliefs, or so the stories go... These are examples of yellow journal, "virtual" personas that populate governmental mythology most mistake for actual reality and factual history. MLK, would be an example of controlled opposition. MLK would appear to be as much a life actor and live action yellow journal role player as JFK and the rest of the cartoon cast.

Sainted icons are generated with nearly every News cycle, blessed widows do the News media talk show circuit, like they would were they hawking a new book, new look, album or film. These widows sit through endless hair and makeup sessions immediately after losing their husbands to horrific events and we are supposed to take all of this seriously. We are not supposed to act like adults and notice that the journalists are either willingly misleading the public or are simply incapable of rational thought in the first place. The News is controlled and even honest journalists will not be able to really report on anything important in depth in any way that matters, not without it getting drowned out by all the perpetual multimedia noise and nonsense. Rational News stories are nearly unique, they occur so rarely and get a lot less coverage than obvious propaganda product. Religious martyrs, military martyrs, and of course the slain heroic citizen martyr are all used as emotional trigger idols. The mass public is an eternal audience that is programmed with these kinds of emotional narratives. Over time and generations, these stories all have effect on the resulting society, more often than not resulting in more laws and less demonstrable human freedom. In many ways we are less free today than we would have been before 1776. In fact we all would be more free without all the layers of needles government that have exploited humanity and all other natural resources for generations of seeming endless time. The average person usually gets blamed for what the few have always done. The few institutionalized slavery and the few still manage to keep us all in a form of slavery to this day.

Beware Collective Opinions: Peer Review Pressure Comes in Many Guises

There is always either officially sanctioned historical or scientific or even conspiratorial mazes for you to spend the rest of your life mentally lost in.

Crowd psychology is human instinct. Group think is contagious. Beware the Oracle of Delphi. Peer reviews and approved panel opinions lead to the intellectual rule of the mindless mob. Individuals can leave proverbial Platonic Shadow Theater Cave, groups cannot. Community think based on gossip and hearsay and not on rationale thought is the exact recipe for more Government. Community think based on demonstrable principles and individual thought is another thing entirely. This latter phenomena is like agreeing on 2+2 equalling 4, or that the sky is blue and grass green.

Consensus driven opinions are the tools of the 'scientific' and conspiracy minded who get lost in theories that have no relationship to reality.
